It depends on every visitor how much time he wants to spend for Meteora and how interested he is for knowing better this place . The best way for someone to see the area is to combine driving and walking (in some points).
A guided tour with a real GUIDE usually includes visit of the monasteries (as many as possible) and driving through the area and stops for the view points, and a little bit of walking (if some visitors want to spend more time for a hike, this can be organized and be part of the tour).
OUR PRIORITY is to organize every tour based on the interests, the time, the needs and the mood of the visitors. OUR GOAL is every individual, family, group of people to discover METEORA and to love the place as we love it and to have an unforgettable experience by visiting Meteora.
It depends on many things….
- how much interested someone is so as to see them all….
- how fit so as to walk and do steps for some of them….
- the time of the arrival…
- weather conditions……
A visitor could see them all even in one day, which would be so tiring and pointless.
THE IMPORTANT about every tour is to become a beautiful memory of the place we visit.
It is up to you to decide about how fast you want to move and about the quality of the visit!!!!
The monastery with the easiest access is the one of St Steven
The rest all have steps that lead to the entrance of the monastery. Some they even have a path leading to the steps. The monastery of the Holy Trinity is probably the hardest one to the access and also the one of St Nicolas . There are spots on the way up, where someone can stop to rest and to enjoy the view from there.
In every monastery, there are toilets inside, which means that you have to visit the monastery, when it is open, so as to have access to the restrooms.
In the outside area there are NO restrooms at all , till the town or the village.
Definitely every visitor should bring a bottle of water and maybe a snack with him.
In some of the monasteries there are little canteens, at the parkings, where people can buy water, coffee or some soft drinks.
If it is summer when you come, bring a hat!
A camera for the pictures.
And as always in every trip, the good mood!!!!
Appropriate clothing for entering the monasteries.
There is a ticket 3 euros per person for each monastery.
For all the Greek citizens the entrance is free.
For all the children till the age of 12 the entrance is free.
For the visitor that comes to Meteora and he has limited time to spend, the option of the guided tour is the best! A place like Meteora has so many to offer to every visitor.
The licenced guide knows the history of every place in depth , all you can see from the first moment but even more…..
The visitor saves time, avoids difficulties and unpleasant “surprises”, he will learn the history of the place and not only.
He will know the real stories, the unwritten stories, those stories that guidebooks, applications and brochures will never tell!
If you really want to enjoy the time in one of the most popular places in Greece, you have to know how to move, you need a guide to organize the time, so as you to see the most of the area effortless.
Every trip with a licenced tourist guide becomes interesting, offers knowledge and quality and beautiful experiences to follow you as memories. When the guide lives in the area, is one of the locals, this can be even better!!
